"Aren't they cute? They're very excited," the Weather Witch said. "We're celebrating their birthday tonight. There's going to be a parade."

"A parade?" asked Megan. "For their birthday?"

"Well actually it's not their real birthday. You know the way bats are, everything's backwards. Their real birthday is six months away, in November."

"Then how do they rate a parade?" Megan said.

"The parade's not for them," the Weather Witch explained. "It's for Queen Victoria. The bats think she's nice so they like to join in! They've just gone off now to invite some friends. They'll meet us downtown later on."

"That's right!" Megan said. "I remember it now. Tomorrow's Victoria Day. But I sort of forget, who was she exactly?"

"She was the Queen of England a long time ago," said the Weather Witch. "And we use her birthday to celebrate whoever it is that's the Queen today, or the King as the case may be."
