Later that night when she got into bed she did everything that Winter had said. She took a taste from her diamond ice, then she turned off the lights and she closed her eyes. Not long after she fell asleep she heard the song of the Magic Tree and she dreamed a dream of long ago when the First Land was all that there was.
She dreamed the dance of the trees as well. In her dream she was standing on top of a small, grassy hill. She heard the sound of the Magic Tree song all around where she stood. It came from the grass and the air and the sea, it was even inside her it seemed. All at once she began to dance, slowly at first in a graceful way her arms began moving and her body swayed. Her feet and her legs were soon moving as well and she found herself dancing the Magic Tree's song.
She wasn't alone. Trees appeared from the edge of the woods and they danced along with her. Tall slender birches, a stately old oak, a bold sassafras and a shaggy old fir. Willows and chestnuts and elms came along and they joined in the dance of the Magic Tree song. And twelve big cedars stood in a circle and watched them while they danced.
