The Night The Glacier Came (part 4)

Megan and Winter knew it was true. The only way they could stop the Glacier was to find something hot to melt it. The only trouble was it was the coldest night of the entire year and there wasn't a warm thing in sight. And the Glacier was getting restless again, it was rolling toward the city.

Rrrrrrrrrrrr...

All of a sudden the White Wolf started to howl. Megan and Winter looked over at him. His head was raised and his neck was arched and his eyes seemed glued to the moon.

"Shhhh," Winter told him. "You'll wake up all the people."

"Wait a minute!" Megan whispered. "I think he's trying to tell us something."

Megan and Winter both stared at the moon. It looked just the same as it had before, not quite full, just a bite away and still growing round and fat.

"That's it!" cried Megan. "The moon, the moon!"

"I don't see how the moon can help us to stop the Glacier," Iceman said.

"The moon can't help but the Dragon might," Megan told her excitedly. "There's a Dragon who eats the moon you see, and a dragon can be just as hot as he wants, his breath is very fiery."

"Absolutely," Winter agreed and she seemed quite excited too. "I forgot all about the Dragon. He could fly down here and melt all the ice the Glacier is making."

"Do you think he would?" Iceman asked.

"If we got him something to eat he might," Megan said. "He must be very hungry tonight. The moon is still growing and he isn't allowed to eat it at all until it gets full. I bet he would help if we asked."

Everyone thought it was a great idea so they called for the Windman and

Whoooosh! The Windman came. "What can I do for you?" he asked.

"Fly me home, Windman," Megan said. "I have to get something for the Dragon to eat."

So Whoooosh! and Whoooosh! The Windman blew, he picked Megan up and he flew her right home and then Whoooosh! He blew her back again.

"I got some apples,"Megan called down to Winter. "A whole bowlful!"

"Take them up to the Dragon," Winter told her. "Tell him to come right away."
