"Your right," Megan whispered. "You better be careful. Spring wants to come as soon as she can. She sent out her friend the White Bird to spy, I saw him flying around in the sky with the Windman yesterday. Are you hiding inside the White Wolf's cave?"
"Yes I am," Winter said. "But it gets a bit lonely sometimes at night so I go for a walk when the clouds hide the moon and it isn't so shiny and bright."
"I guess I'm a little bit lonely too. I can't get to sleep and I feel all funny. Do you think you can stay till my parents get back?" Megan asked.
Winter shook her head.
"The moon could come out from behind the clouds. The Windman might see me," she said. "I have to get back to the White Wolf's cave. I really can't stay I'm sorry to say."
"That's okay," Megan sighed. "Oh, I found your magic snowoman eyes, Winter. They were left behind the other day when the Windman came to blow you away."
"You keep them yourself, they're just what you need. The magic they have let's you call to the moon to keep you company." Winter told her.
"Will the moon come and stay with me here in my room?" Megan asked.
"It can't do that," Winter replied. "It has to stay up high in the sky. But if you use the snowoman eyes the moon will look down and keep an eye on you. It will watch you sleeping the whole night through."
"I'd like that."
"So would the moon. Here's what to do. Put one eye by your bedroom door, up over the top or just off to the side. It's magic will watch the door all night and nothing the least bit disturbing can ever come into your room. Then take the other snowoman eye and place it out on your window sill where the moon will be sure to see it. Then look outside at the moon in the sky and call with this special song:
"Get into bed and close your eyes, then sing the song inside yourself a few more times. Before very long you'll be fast asleep. But the moon will know just where you are from hearing your song, it will watch you sleeping all night long," Winter explained, then she said goodbye and left for the White Wolf's cave.
