Megan did what Winter said. She put up one of the snowoman eyes above her door and she put the other on her window sill. Then she got into bed and sang the moon's song, and just when she did, the moon came out from behind the clouds and shone through her window again. Megan smiled and closed her eyes. Soon she was fast asleep. And all that night she didn't miss her parents or feel the least bit lonely. She knew that the moon was watching her and as it turned out that was perfectly true. Because when she woke up the following day, both of the snowoman eyes had turned from black to white from the light of the moon.
You might just want to try this yourself if you happen to find some snowoman eyes outside in the snow. Put one up by your bedroom door and the other on your window sill. And if the stones have turned white the next day, then you'll know that the moon has been watching you. It will surely continue to watch every night, night after night after night after night so long as you sing its song.
This story is the fifth in a collection of six stories and twelve songs with numerous black and white pen and ink illustrations throughout. After dealing with the Dragon Who Eats The Moon, Michael and Megan have many adventures with Winter. They call the Iceman, travel to the White Wolf's secret cave, stop a Glacier and have a wonderful going-away party for Winter. Many of the stories can be acted out and continued by the reader in their everyday life. Although this book is set in Toronto, it can be adapted to fit any North American urban centre.
