And that's just exactly the way that they did it. Spring lived free wherever she wanted, she danced and sang and hid behind trees and she moved so quickly she was hard to see. She planted the seeds from the Magic Tree, and she felt so pleased she'd remembered to do it, she clacked her two sticks with a rap-tap-tap. When she did that an amazing thing happened - trees sprouted up from the seeds in the ground, and bushes and plants for miles around blossomed with flowers.
Spring made friends with a small White Bird and wherever she went the
White Bird did too. They promised each other they'd spend all their days
together that way, so when it was time to call the Windman and Whoooosh!
the Windman came, he blew them back to Summer's house and Spring and the
White Bird went in to stay.
Summer came out and he took his turn living wherever he pleased. The days turned warm and lazy then, and Summer spent most of his time in the sun fast asleep dreaming lots of dreams. When he got hungry and wanted to eat, he tapped a fruit tree with his Magic Tree stick, rap-tap-tap, and its branches bent down to deliver a snack. And the trick seemed to work extremely well on various berry bushes, too.
Summer made friends with a White Raccoon. They got on quite well so in the end when it was time for Summer to call the Windman and Whoooosh! the Windman came, he blew them back to Fall's house together and they moved right in right away.
Then Fall came out and lived free where he liked and the nights turned crisp and the air became chilly. And as Fall walked about throughout the woods he rapped the trees with his Magic Tree stick, rap-tap-tap. And when he did that the leaves all shook and turned bright burning colours.
Fallmade friends with a White Squirrel one day, and they ended up feeling so happy together that when it was time to call for the Windman and Whoooosh! the Windman came, he blew them both back to Winter's house, and Fall and his new friend the White Squirrel went inside and decided to stay.
Then Winter lived free wherever she chose. The days became cold, the water froze and the ground was covered with snow. When Winter went walking throughout the woods, she swung her Magic Tree staff in the air. And rap-tap-tap, wherever she rapped it, icicles started to grow.
